EcoSens International Workshop

28-30th of August, the EcoSens project arranged a workshop in beautiful surroundings at Solstrand hotel outside of Bergen. Eight different nationalities were represented amongst the 15 participants, four from foreign institutions.

Everyone had a 20-30 minute talk, so in the first day-and-a-half we all were well updated on each others recent research, with plenty of interesting questions and good discussions following.

Optics PhD student Shea Cheatham explains the vast possibilities of radiative transfer modeling.

The latter half of the workshop consisted of break-out sessions. Amongst other things, they focused on finding future research possibilities and collaborations overlapping and extending out of EcoSens. Exciting discussions in plenum followed.

Fortunately it was also possible to continue the discussions in the pool and spa area, and most all of the participants swam in the ocean as well – a refreshing experience!

We also saw dolphins, whales and rainbows all the time, and this was so spectacular that no-one managed to photograph it!

Aperitifs and dinners in a private room ensured a stimulating atmosphere no doubt sparking that extra creativity in our discussions.

A great success in every aspect, and we all hope to come back to Solstrand in the not-so-distant future.
